Wow. The DMZ goes from cold to...what, lukewarm, room temp? Matt and Bill actually have an argument. Good.

Um. So, when did Obama ever once say or imply that he "defeated terrorism?" I think Matt is employing a strawman argument here and it does violence to an already weak point. National Security was not a big issue in the Presidential campaign in 2012. If it was, Obama would have beaten Romney by double digits on OBL alone. Thus, how could Benghazi have "doomed" Obama's re-election? I mean, maybe you don't realize that this is what you are doing, but this comes across as a backdoor delegitimization attempt of Obama's victory.

Also, where is the scandal with respect to Benghazi? I am asking for real. Where is the scandal? At about the 30 minute mark, Matt tries to explain the "very serious charges" that conservatives are accusing Obama of and, I have to say, that I am at a lost as to why I should care about this issue any further. I grieve for the lives of those who died, but there is no "chilling effect" there isn't even a there there.

With the IRS thing, I confess that there is more evidence of an abuse of power, but, as Bill said, the only reason why this is even a story is because the Inspector General outed the IRS. I don't want to dismiss it out of hand, but it is difficult for me to get exercised about it given that, so far as I am aware, no one was actually denied their tax status. There was only ever extra scrutiny. I have not been following this story since last week, so I could be wrong about that. But, if I am correct, then I should hope that every conservative will now turn their outrage over to the fact that thousands of people are being put under lock and key for drug possession, if extra scrutiny by the IRS qualifies as tyranny.

Of course, all my tentative sympathy for conservatives goes out the window when Matt plays the "if this happened to Bush" card. The Bush Administration lied to the American people to lead this country to war. It resulted in the deaths of more than four people. Not only that, but there was no attempt taken to prevent the 9/11 terrorist strike which the Bush Administration was made aware of as early as the month previous. Those two scandals are worse than all of the Obama Administration's scandals or non-scandals combined. Drone strikes included.
